Why Derive Terpenes from Other Sources?

One of our most common questions is about quality or spectrum of terpene blends, and it's by far the most important. Cannabis plants contain more than a hundred different chemicals responsible for their aroma and flavor, and terpenes are only a section of that.
What sets one product apart from another is the number of different ingredients in a blend, with more ingredients representing a broader spectrum. The result is that a short path/distillation cannabis-derived terpene blend will be significantly more flavorful and accurate (though containing in many cases a portion of cannabinoids), but significantly more expensive to produce. That's problematic for food/topical/vape product producers.
The answer for commercial enterprises is to derive terpenes and flavonoids from other sources that have been provided a Food Grade stamp of approval, and on a more local level source the rest of the terpenes and flavonoids from the plant material.
